Tipping Point's innovation in the production of this type of tip lies in the creation of a system that ensures the tip is correctly attached to the shaft. Thanks to the special taper of the hole, the tip adapts to the shaft in the first few millimeters and can then be screwed in easily, ensuring that the tip is not flush with the shaft. The shafts must first be properly prepared with the special Tipping Point sharpener with a conical end, which creates the correct angle for insertion into the tips. The shape of the Longobarda tip is historical and reminiscent of wrought iron tips. The typical conical shape was formerly obtained from a sheet of iron, which was then shaped to create the desired line, giving the arrow greater stability and precision. The tips are made of steel and then surface-treated using a burnishing process to give them their typical burnished color and protect them from oxidation.
